PAGE FEATURES - Controls for Scaling, Crop Marks, Mirror Image (Reverse), Negative Image and Rotation. Special Page Features can be added for specific workflow requirements such as unique Optical Dot placement for plate benders, Hold Page Buffer for FirstPROOF raster soft proofing, place custom press control marks, and much more.
RASTER PDF OUTPUT - The ability to output raster PDF proofing files for fast composite soft-proofing, digital integrity hard-copy proofing and faster client approvals is a standard feature in Fusion Harlequin RIPs (v.9 and above).
The PDF Raster Output feature allows you to output a composite PDF file (CMYK Halftone or CMYK contone data) directly from the RIP as well as pre-separated raster PDF files. This is a great tool for early detection of errors caused by missing fonts, dropped logos and incorrect overprints and missing data.
MULTI-PURPOSE - The Harlequin RIP features revolutionary screening technology. This screening technology is designed to work with a wide range of printing processes including: Flexographic, Offset Litho, Screen Printing, Gravureand Digital Printing.
ADVANCED FONT SUPPORT - Extended font format support includes PostScript Type 0 (composite), Type 1, Type 3, Type 4 and fonts, as well as native processing of Type 32 and Type 42 True Type fonts.
FONT EMULATION - Ever had a rush job that was missing fonts? Fusion Harlequin RIPs now include Font Emulation, a solution that when enabled, intelligently produces acceptable, readable copy using another font. It will automatically make a typographically acceptable match to the missing fonts with no text-overflow.
Emulated fonts have the correct width for every glyph in the font, so the letter and word spacing will be correct. Justified text will continue to be justified, and extended or condensed fonts will also match the original font. Emulation will not cause re-flow or any changes to end-lines or page breaks.
PRECISION SPOT COLOR REPRODUCTION - MultiRIP ensures optimum use of the output device's color gamut. The Harlequin RIP includes several licensed Pantone Color Lookup Libraries including Pantone Plus support. This ensures that emulation of Pantone colors printed using other inks (e.g. CMYK) are as accurate as possible.
1-bit TIFF OUTPUT IS A STANDARD FEATURE

DIRECT DEVICE INTERFACES ARE AVAILABLE
For a complete list of Direct Device Interfaces click here.
PRECISION SCREENING - MultiRIP includes Harlequin Precision Screening (HPS), a technology that provides more accurate screening and reduces moiré without unduly limiting the choice of screen angles and frequency.
Harlequin Precision Screening allows users to choose how rosettes are formed in the image and gives users the ability to generate extra gray levels which allow the use of higher screen frequencies than the imaging resolution would normally allow. With 'Generate Extra Gray Levels' selected one can expand the number of distinct gray levels.
CLEAR-CENTERED ROSETTES - A standard feature within HPS is the ability to ensure higher quality color reproduction. on lower lower resolution and line screen imaging processes.
In general, output at high frequencies, or where the output may be run on presses with poor registration, should use clear-centered rosettes, while output at low screen frequencies or on well registered devices (including most color printers) should use spot-centered rosettes.
SEPARATIONS AND SCREENING CONTROL - MultiRIP allows you to control and manage resolutions, line screens (frequency), screen angles and dot shapes.
Using the simple graphic interface, MultiRIP give you complete control of screen angles for both process and spot colors. Easily build a set of values covering screen angles, frequencies and dot shape to produce beautiful tonality, image reproduction and print quality control.
CALIBRATION MANAGER
Calibrate your imagesetter, platesetter, proofer or digital press using the MultiRIP's built-in Calibration Manager tool. Calibration is a critical process for quality printing. A standard integral feature of the Fusion Harlequin RIP is the Calibration Manager.
It allows users to easily calibrate for monochrome output, and apply tone curve adjustments for all process and spot color channels for each output device.
COLOR ACCURACY AND PANTONE LIBRARIES
Harlequin RIPs ensure optimum use of the output device's color gamut and adds Pantone Plus support to ensure that emulation of Pantone colors printed using other inks (e.g. CMYK) are as accurate as possible. The RIP includes six licensed Pantone libraries and supports the addition of unique spot colors in to the Know Colors database.

MULTIRIP PRODUCTIVITY OPTIONS
A wide range of options and add-ons are available for Fusion Harlequin RIPs. Below is list with links to additional information.
SCREENING OPTIONS
The Harlequin Screening Library TM (HSLTM) is a collection of advanced screening techniques designed to resolve the quality issues faced by the pre-press and printing industry.
Stochastic Screening - Harlequin Dispersed Screening (HDS) - Advantages of this include increased apparent sharpness and the removal of cross screen and object moiré. This is achieved because the dots are dispersed instead of clustered as they are in a traditional periodic screen.
Harlequin Cross-Modulated Screening (HXM) A hybrid Cross-modulated screening that takes advantage of the best aspects of both AM and FM screening and gives smooth, noise-free flat tints while retaining fine detail in highlights and shadows. Allows you to print screens at a higher line ruling than would normally be considered reliable, produces pin-sharp images and helps overcome common printing imperfections like visible rosettes and moiré.
TRAPPRO - AUTOMATED IN-RIP TRAPPING - TrapPro In-RIP trapping technology handles trapping automatically, as the page is processed in the prepress workflow. Trap configurations can be set in-RIP, or supplied using industry-standard controls in PostScript and PDF jobs. LEARN MORE HERE
CIP3 - AUTOMATED PRESS CONSOLE INK KEY PRESETTING - MultiRIP can produce CIP3 Print Production Format (PPF) files containing print job information that can be read by CIP3/4 enabled press consoles to preset all ink keys. This results in hitting correct color faster, accelerating make-ready times, and dramatically reducing associated material waste.
COLOR PRO ICC Color Management - Provides excellent color process control, giving accurate, consistent and predictable color reproduction for a wide range of workflows. Harlequin ColorPro provides full support for industry standard ICC profiles (including device link and N-channel profiles) avoiding dependence on the generic, system level color management of the computer's operating system.
